December is a very hectic month for everyone. With the stress of Christmas shopping and all the family events, it can sometimes overshadow the magic of the season. Christmas time is supposed to be about bringing people together and celebrating how much they mean to you. Yet the stress of the month sometimes makes us forget this.
I always love going to Disneyland during Christmas time because it reminds me of the magic of the season. There is something in the atmosphere of Disneyland that brings pure joy. It might be all the decorations, the smiles on everyone’s faces, or maybe it’s the fact that all the stress seems to disappear. The happiness just seems contagious there.
If you don’t go there often, it’s something to put on your bucket list. The new “World of Color” is surreal. It’s like all of the best scenes in the most popular Disney movies blended together to create a new story. The thing that makes it so unlike anything else at Disneyland is that it’s only done using lights, sound and water. Disneyland is also famous for the phenomenal firework show, which is at the Sleeping Beauty Castle. The Aladdin show in California Adventure is as good as most Broadway productions. The whole experience of Disneyland is truly magical.
Disneyland has many hidden things within its gates that a lot of people would overlook if they did not know. For example, there are hidden “Mickeys” on almost every ride in the park. Hidden Mickeys are random things that form the shape of Mickey Mouse, and they are not extremely difficult to find. There are hidden Mickeys in the hedges of Small World, in the gears of Thunder Mountain, and even one in the cracks of the wall in Indiana Jones. There is also a very exclusive club, Club 33. It’s located in the New Orleans part of Disneyland by the Pirates of the Caribbean ride. It was originally meant for Walt Disney’s close friends, but has expanded, and now is available for whomever. Though the waiting list is extensive and contacting the club is not the easiest, it might be worth looking into.
As you walk through Main Street when you first enter the park, it seems much larger than it really is, but when you’re getting ready to leave it seems much shorter of a distance. This is because the window placement on the second story of the buildings create an optical illusion.
Disneyland is very different from other amusement parks because it’s for all ages. No matter what age you are there is something there for everyone, whether that is going on the rides, seeing all the characters, or just hanging out with family and friends. Disneyland brings people together and helps remind them that, though life can be stressful, there is always time for some fun. Disneyland is a great place to go during Christmas season just to get in the spirit of the season.
